The Office of the Common Rule of
The Fellowship of the Way of the Cross
When this Office follows a Prayer Book Office, it may begin with
The Chapter, and the Lord's Prayer may be omitted.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

V.   O God, make speed to save us.
R.   O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. (except in Lent, add) Alleluia.

Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me, and bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling; that I may go to the altar of God, to the God of my joy and gladness.

V.   Restore us, O God of hosts;
R.   Show the light of your countenance and we shall be saved.

The Chapter     (next)

God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Lord, have mercy.
Thanks be to God.

Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your Name,
    your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
        on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
    as we forgive those
        who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
    and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
    and the glory are yours,
    now and forever.   Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy Name,
    thy kingdom come,
    thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those
        who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
    for ever and ever.   Amen.

O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For the Fellowship

Give us grace, Eternal Father, that we strive to keep the way of the Cross, and carry in our hearts the image of Jesus crucified. Make us glad to conform ourselves to your divine will, that being fashioned after his life-giving death, we may die according to the flesh, and live according to the spirit of righteousness; through Jesus Christ our Lord and only Savior. Amen.

Remember, O Lord, for good our Fellowship and all its members;

(here may be named all the members and probationers, or those with special needs)

bind us all together by the unseen chain of your love; lift our hearts more and more to heavenly desires; prosper our undertakings as shall be most for your glory; increase our membership as shall be in accord with your will; and give us the grace to discern and obey your will in love and patience, and in holiness of life; that all our doings may be to your glory and to the blessing of your people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Tuesday    Of the Church

O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: Look favorably on your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of your providence, carry out in tranquillity the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Wednesday    Of the Incarnation

Pour your grace into our hearts, O Lord, that we who have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ, announced by an angel to the Virgin Mary, may by his cross and passion be brought to the glory of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.     (continue)

Thursday    Of the Holy Eucharist

God our Father, whose Son our Lord Jesus Christ in a wonderful Sacrament has left us a memorial of his passion: Grant us so to venerate the sacred mysteries of his Body and Blood, that we may ever perceive within ourselves the fruit of his redemption; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Friday    Of the Holy Cross

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the cross that he might draw the whole world to himself: Mercifully grant that we, who glory in the mystery of our redemption, may have grace to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.     (continue)

Saturday    Of All Saints

Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Grant that in our earthly pilgrimage we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ, in whom all our intercessions are acceptable through the Spirit, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Merciful God, creator of all the peoples of the earth and lover of souls: Have compassion on all who do not know you as you are revealed in your Son Jesus Christ; let your Gospel be preached with grace and power to those who have not heard it; turn the hearts of those who resist it; and bring home to your fold those who have gone astray; that there may be one flock under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord.
